City of London SIFoCC Reception co-hosted with the CLF
We co-hosted this reception at the historic Guildhall in partnership with the City of London Corporation and SIFoCC Secretariat – the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts – in support of The National Pro Bono Centre.
The reception brought together a distinguished audience, including members of the judiciary, government, business, law firms and chambers, with in-house counsel and the pro bono community, reflecting the collective commitment of stakeholders across the legal and commercial sectors to advancing access to justice globally.
The evening featured powerful insights, including from: Lord Richard Hermer KC, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, Chair of SIFoCC, and Mr Justice Robin Knowles CBE. As highlighted by the Attorney General in his address: “There is a crucial link between the country’s commitment to the rule of law and its levels of innovation, inward investment, and economic growth.”
We were joined by the Attorney General, the Solicitor General, the Minister leading on Justice in the House of Lords (Lord Ponsonby), the Shadow Attorney General, the Lady Chief Justice, the Master of the Rolls, the Deputy President of the Supreme Court, the President of the King’s Bench Division and the Chancellor of the High Court. Members of the Supreme Court of Ukraine joined. We welcomed the Chair of GC100 and many GCs from the financial, insurance and corporate sectors.
All key CLF law firms attended along with arbitrators, members of the Bar, and representatives from the major pro bono charities.
The Attorney General’s speech can be read in full online.
SIFoCC Fifth Full Meeting Report, marking another milestone in the mission of judiciaries across the world to collaborate to promote best practices in commercial dispute resolution, strengthen the rule of law, and support emerging market jurisdictions can be read in full online.
